The DYC'14 theme comes from a quote by Pope Francis: Dear young people, let us not be satisfied with a mediocre life. Be amazed by what is true and beautiful, what is of God! The Holy Father tweeted this on January 27, 2014 (not yet following him but using Twitter, consider looking him up @Pontifex) As of July 14th, this had been retweeted directly 12,948 times and favorited by 12,202..... not counting those who shared it from the retweets! I love that in a short message, the read can be challenged to consider what in life has become mediocre....what is taken for granted....what things do I not pause to reflect upon their awesomeness? When is the last time you were truly amazed at something? What where the circumstances? PLEASE SHARE!!!! I'll start with one: Holding a newborn baby..... to think that only hours earlier, this little boy was inside my friend Sherry, and now is breathing air, snuggled in my arms, and resting in love. I wonder what his brain is already doing? What does he think of being in this strange new world? What things is he already learning about how to interact with this world? Can he sense the love from so many family and friends? There are SO many things that had to come together is just the right way for this child to be here.....how can we ever take a baby for granted? He is AMAZING! (It is also amazing how quickly an hour flew by just rocking and holding him....Thank you God!) OK, your turn....share here in the COMMENTS, and/or post on Our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/261916983874167/ -- Cindee Case, Director, Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry Sponsor of the DYC'14 |
